Did you know that SCAN was the first child advocacy agency in Washington and the second in the nation? Now that is something to be proud of!

Support Care And Networking, SCAN, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency whose mission is keeping children safe from abuse and neglect through education, training, and mentoring. Since 1973, SCAN has been dedicated to strengthening families in an effort to combat child abuse and neglect. To do this, SCAN currently serves over 250 families per month through programs that help reunite and strengthen families by providing individual and group counseling and parenting education, monitored visitation and reunification of parents with their children, and fatherhood support and training programs.

We believe that too often intervention occurs only after abuse is reported. Greater investments are needed in programs that have been proven to stop the abuse before it occurs - such as parenting education classes or home visits to provide assistance for children and their parents. SCAN will continue to provide these types of services to the community.
